Dr. Roxanne Arnal

Dr. Roxanne Arnal graduated from the University of Winnipeg in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Chemistry. She then spent another year in Winnipeg studying biology and physics in order to enter the Optometry program at the University of Waterloo, where she graduated with her Doctor of Optometry in 1995. That year she returned to Winnipeg to practice with her former optometrist for a year and a half. During that time Dr. Arnal also worked at the CNIB Low Vision Clinic and a specialty contact lens centre. Dr. Arnal and her husband, Ken, moved to Wainwright January 31, 1997 to join her mentor, Dr. John Baker. After only 4 months, she delected to purchase the entire practice!

While in School Dr. Arnal spent 3 years at the Centre for Contact Lens Research and did her final year project studying the effects of contact lens wear on tear film thickness. In addition to her research work, Dr. Arnal has also lectured nurses at the CNIB on optics, optometric assistants on anatomy and physiology of the eye, the community on low vision aids, macular degeneration and diabetes, and spoke at the first Women in Optometry lecture in Toronto.

At the 2004 Alberta Association of Optometrists convention in Calgary, Dr. Arnal was elected as the association President, after having served 5 years on council. Today Dr. Arnal spends her time volunteering as a Craft Project Leader in the Greenshields 4-H Club and evaluating figure skaters for Skate Canada.

Passion; Today, Dr. Arnal is focusing her studies on the effects of nutrition on ocular and general health.
